Bitch, Please!!!!

OK, folks, I know that Hurricane Katrina is bitch-slapping New Orleans. Yes, yes, even without Corky the Retarded News Whore standing outside getting pummelled by the storm, we know, we know.

My heart bleeds purple Kool-Aid for ya but let's not make more of this than we have to. And with such disastrous possibilities, to overdo this takes quite an effort but the news was up to the challenge.

10,000 people in the Superdome. News-worthy? OK, I'll give them that if only for the shots of the poor people forced to sit in the stands. SIT THERE!! And do what? Nothing.

BTW, why didn't they let people on the field. Seems kind of jackassed to me.

"You can sit in the stands and do nothing, having nothing to watch, have nothing to do but sit there and wonder if there will be anything left of everything you own.... but don't you dare think about going out on the field. We got football to play!!!

Anyway, back to the buttholes on the news.

As though the drama of having 10,000 people crammed into the stadium wasn't enough, the news had to HARP INCESSANTLY on the possibility of the roof collapsing. Would that be a big tragedy? Yeah Buddy, but really, was it all that possible?

A few leaks, yeah. It was a friggin' hurricane afterall but full-on collapse? Bitch, PLEASE!!

Oh, the news would hate that, wouldn't they? Oh, the horror of such high ratings. The lost humanity... God, you could see the newscasters frothing at the mouth and almost straining to will that roof to collapse. All friggin' day they talked about that damn roof and made it sound like the leaks were the tell-tale signs of eminent collapse.

I hate to break it to you asswipes but the roof held. But never fear, there are plenty of destruction around and people to ask how it feels to have lost everything.

Get a life you idiot vultures!

    Look SIR,
You shouldn't be so hard on the news media, after all, they're just trying to make a living without working, producing, helping, or contributing in any way at all. Then this wonderful chance to report on thousands of people being killed goes to waste just because some engineer had the gall to build the Super Dome well. Now they cannot cash in on other peoples misery.
The nerve of all those people not getting killed so 'honest' reporters have something to do.

    Raymond Young,

The media, in general, is a huge organization of fools and misinformed idiots.

Much of the time their stories are half right at most, and sometimes they're completely wrong.

Today during my lunch break, I had some thoughts about the news myself, about how the newscaster kept saying (rather dramatically) "Again, we repeat, NEW ORLEANS IS NO LONGER AN OPERATING CITY..." and he would say those words really loud and obnoxious over and over. It got quite annoying. I believe what Captain Grose is trying to say is that the news should report, but don't treat us like idiots. And about the roof collapsing, I think he was just trying to point out the fact that a lot of the time the media deviates from actually REPORTING to PREDICTING, which is not what their job is.

    Just a few thoughts.

Thanks for the comments. I'll address them all at once:

Ray, I get it. Thanks. Maybe it just takes a smartass bird of a smartass feather. I LOVE cynicism, especially when it's dripping.

Laura, good point. Kind of like Bloodsport, if you win, they'll rebuild your house. Or a Gladiator thing. Give the people something!!!

PFC Dristy, I think we are all on the same sheet of music here. Ray was being sarcastic but I appreciate your comment. At least I know it's not just ME.

Ryan, that's what you get for living in the Big Easy. Just kidding, hope you are OK. Give me some frontline news. At least if it's dramatic, I'll know it's not fabricated, How are you up on the net anyway?

My wife worked for the local news station for five years, I got an entire new (low) opinion of reporters as a result. Reminds me of a Bloom County episode where the main character were at a dead run trying to escape a pack of media hounds (complete with barking and snarling).

I'm in paulina, LA about 35-40 miles west of my house. there is power in most of the town, but the neighbor hood i am in has a broken pole. I'm on a generator, powering a DSL modem and charging my laptop.
